Restoration and revitalization are not taken lightly here in Greensboro, Lake Oconee's hometown. If a historical building is going to be restored, it's going to be done the right way. The intricate details are what make many historical landmarks in the Lake Oconee area unique and the future site of Oconee Brewing Co. is no exception.
Preserving history is a heavy undertaking, but one that developer, Nathan McGarity, is willing to take on. The future home of Oconee Brewing Co. was once a bottling factory, which spurred the desire for a brewery to make the historic building its home. But before this brewery can open its doors, there are few mounds of paperwork to work through.
In the meantime, woodworking extraordinaires, Sons of Sawdust, have stepped in to create interior pieces for the brewery. By harvesting wood from the building itself, character is added to the historical site with wood aged over more than 100 years. When Oconee Brewing Co. makes it debut in Greensboro, it will be well worth the wait and certainly offer a refreshing and historical piece of revitalization to the Lake Oconee area.
